Oswestry allrounder Connor Davies and Ludlow batsman James Kinder will make their debuts for Shropshire’s Academy side against Northamptonshire CCC’s under-19s this week.

The 50 overs per side match takes place at Wrekin College on Friday, starting at 12.30pm.

Shropshire’s Academy team are also in action next Wednesday, July 24 when they will face Cheshire at Weston Cricket Club in Crewe.

Academy coach Ian Roe, pictured, said: “The fixture with Northants under-19s is the first of two games inside a week and provides the chance to continue to look at new players.

“We’ve invited some of them to show what they can do and it gives them an opportunity following encouraging starts to their seasons.

“There’s a number of players who have made us aware of their ability and we’re now giving them a chance to shine.”

Wellington allrounder Dan Lloyd will captain the Academy team, with Roe adding: “He has had first team experience with Shropshire and his knowledge, his reading of the game and ability to guide younger players is important.

“We have looked to pick a stronger batting line up and we will bat deep, so hopefully that will pay dividends.”
